At the heart of her discussion lies her latest book, Rock Bottom Rising (book 2 in the Rock Bottom series). Set against the backdrop of rural Tennessee during the tumultuous 1930s and 1940s, the novel follows the gripping saga of Ruby, a woman burdened by a shocking felony conviction and the harsh realities of life as a single mother. Nixon weaves a rich tapestry of historical facts with her grandmother’s life story, bringing to life the challenges of the Great Depression, World War II, and life in Tennessee.
