George B. Erath: Pioneer, Soldier, and Surveyor

George B. Erath: Pioneer, Soldier, and Surveyor In-Person

Waco pioneer George Bernard Erath, as portrayed by Gary Lee Webb of the Heart of Texas Storytelling Guild, will share the story of his journey from Vienna, Austria, to Waco. In 1833, Erath moved to Texas and fought in the Texas Revolution.  As a surveyor, he drew up the original street grids for many cities in Central Texas, including Waco.  Erath served on the Texas House of Representatives and the Texas Senate and was a charter member of the Waco Masonic Lodge #92. He died in 1891 and is buried in Oakwood Cemetery.
