Books & Brews: The Topeka School Online
Our (normally) traveling book club will be meeting virtually again. Join us tonight to discuss The Topeka School by Ben Lerner.
Adam Gordon is a senior at Topeka High School, class of 1997. His mother is a famous feminist author and his father is an expert at getting "lost boys" to open up. They both work at the Foundation, a well-known psychiatric clinic. So when Adam brings loner Darren into the social scene without knowing that Darren is father's patient, the effects are disastrous.
This is the story of a family finding strength through their struggles and a riveting prehistory of the present: the collapse of public speech, the trolls and tyrants of the new right, and the ongoing crisis of identity among white men.
