Unlocking Georgia Genealogy, CTGS Program In-Person
Georgia genealogical research is shaped by a complex mix of political change, land distribution, and evolving record systems. In this presentation, Genealogist, Larry Thomas, places Georgia research in context by touching on the two governing systems that existed before statehood, the impact of Georgia’s unique land lottery system, and the many courthouse disasters that altered or destroyed records across the state. Attendees will gain a practical framework for locating land, tax, probate, and court records—even when traditional sources are missing.
This event is co-sponsored by the Central Texas Genealogical Society.
